FAQ vegetation removal
The DSCA committee heard from many community members who found the letter from GSBC planners about bushfire clean-up concerning, especially the apparent failure to consider bushfire safety.
See the attached document for extra information from GSBC planners. See the table on pages 3-4 for a list of reasons for vegetation removal that do not require a permit.

gofundme fundraiser for bushfire recovery
On New Years Eve, Reef Murfet ran 100km, from the river mouth to Swansea three times, to help raise funds for those affected.
Reef's hope is to make a positive difference and support the wider Dolphin Sands community. Any donation, large or small, would be appreciated.

Bushfire plan matrix
Our bushfire plan matrix lists identified actions for different agencies to mimimise the future risk of bushfires, property loss and impost on fire fighting resources.

There are columns relevant for landowners; the DSCA; GSBC; Tasmania Fire Service; and the State Government.

The main things that landowners can do to support volunteer fire fighters are to prepare your property and driveway; and clearly indicate your property number.

Successful grant application
We're pleased to announce that our Disaster Ready Fund grant application from NEMA, funded by the Commonwealth Government, was successful.
We applied for $125 000 to support Council to purchase an industrial-scale chipper/shredder. The aim is to reduce the risk of bushfire by supporting strategic green waste clearing without the need for burning.
We expect the machine to be delivered in Dec 2025.
